1. Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) taxonomy
Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Issidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Fieber F. X. in 1876 in the following paper: Les Cicadines d'Europe d'après les originaux et les publications les plus récentes. Deuxième partie : Descriptions des espèces. Revue et Magasin de Zoologie pure et appliquée. Paris. (Ser. 3), 4: 11-268.
It is currently classified in order Hemiptera Linné, 1758, suborder Fulgoromorpha Evans, 1946, superfamily Fulgoroidea Latreille, 1807, family Issidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Hemisphaeriinae Melichar, 1906, tribe Parahiraciini Cheng & Yang, 1991, subtribe Parahiraciina Cheng & Yang, 1991, genus Thabena Stål, 1866.
Thabena fissala is an extant taxon.
2. Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) geographical distribution and bioregions
According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) are known from the Palaearctic biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Eurasian zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.
3. Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) biological interactions
As all planthoppers, Thabena fissala (Fieber, 1876) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
