1. Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) taxonomy

Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) is currently considered as a valid taxon of species rank in the family Flatidae Spinola, 1839 of the Fulgoromorpha. This species was first described by Spinola M. in 1839 in the following paper: Essai sur les Fulgorelles, sous-tribu de la tribu des Cicadaires, ordre des Rhyngotes. (Suite). Annales de la Société Entomologique de France. Paris, 8: 339-454.

It is currently classified in family Flatidae Spinola, 1839, subfamily Flatinae Spinola, 1839, tribe Nephesini Distant, 1906, subtribe Nephesina Distant, 1906, genus Nephesa Amyot & Audinet-Serville, 1843.

Nephesa truncaticornis is an extant taxon.

2. Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) geographical distribution and bioregions

According to the geographical TDWG standard (2001), Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) are known from the Oriental biogeographical region as defined by Wallace (1876). More precisely, they are distributed in the Indo-Malayan zoogeographic region as defined by Holt (2013). Figures 1 and 2 display dynamic graphs showcasing the longitudinal and latitudinal profiles of Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) arround the across the globe according to their species richness. A scroll on the histogram bars displays the species richness of the corresponding regions.

3. Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) biological interactions

As all planthoppers, Nephesa truncaticornis (Spinola, 1839) are obligatory phytophagous terrestrial insects.
